Used Computers, Spyware

February 1, 2005

Is it spring yet? Sure has felt like it lately, but I think we'll be getting more snow before we see flowers blooming, though we do have some trees budding already!

I've had a number of situations the last few months where clients could have used an older, inexpensive system for one reason or another. Should you find yourself in such a situation, be sure to call Radioactive, in Kalispell. They refurbish old systems and then put them out for sale at very low prices. Right now they have two in stock:

PIII 750mhz
128meg RAM
15gig hard drive
CD-ROM drive
Windows 98
SOS Office (free Office suite)
$129.95

PII 233mhz
95meg RAM
8.4gig hard drive
CD-ROM drive
Windows 98
SOS Office (free Office suite)
$99.95

These are definitely low-end systems, but they are great when you are in a bind, or if you need a spare for the kids, etc.

I'm still seeing a lot of spyware issues, so if you haven't read the article I wrote about spyware, please do so! The problems with spyware aren't going away, nor are they getting any better. Even I've had a few times where my system got hit, and in both cases it only took a few seconds for hundreds of the nasty little rascals to get in the door - and that's with all the safeguards in place!

I've been slowly working on transferring all of my old newsletters to my site so that you can catch up on back issues. You'll find them here:  http://www.the-grizz.com/computerhelp/newsletters.html

If you have any suggestions for topics you'd like to see me discuss, do let me know!
