July 2002

Shew! It's been a while, eh? Bet you are all thinking that I'd given up on my weekly/monthly/sometimes ezine! Well, no, but I sure haven't been doing well at keeping it up. I'm finding that when one is pregnant, one does what one can and then doesn't worry about the rest!

Now that July is well upon us, along with the unwelcome heat of a dry summer, most of us just don't have the time for our computers. Especially here in Montana, where we only have a few short months of warm weather to enjoy, there's no time to be wasting indoors! Since my pregnancy has kept me inside so much during these hot days, I've been able to do a bit of surfing around and have stumbled my way into a few sites worth sharing.

A great way to feel cooler during these hot months is to have a pond right in your own yard. Maybe not for dipping, but just having the soothing sound of water running over some rocks can sure make one feel cooler! Here's a neat site that shows you how to build one quick and inexpensively:

Ever wish there were an easy way to let your family and friends know what you want for Christmas/Birthdays, etc.? Go to Amazon.com and set up a wish list! Of course, you are limited to the selection of items that they have, and while extensive it's not always selective enough. But on your wish list, you can add comments to any of the items, such as "This is just an idea of what I want, any model would do." Or specify sizes and colors, etc.

Of course, with the hot weather and lack of rain, Montana is once again facing a severe fire season. So far we've been blessed with very few fires, but that can change at any time - especially as we have thunderstorms moving through the area tonight! To stay on top of the Montana fire information:

If you know anyone (besides me) who is expecting, then you might want them to check out this site. They will help you calculate your due date, and then every day the site will be customized to your pregancy, with information and tips on how to cope and what to expect.

One last bit of advice for these hot summer days - remember to keep your computer cool too! Especially with the newer, faster systems, they just don't take the heat very well, so make sure there is plenty of room around the computer for good air flow (ventilation), and if necessary, pick up a small office fan and place it so that it directs air around the the computer. A $12 fan is far easier to afford than having to replace the CPU in your computer!

Have a terrific summer!
