Useful LinksAugust 2003 Just a reminder - as of Sept. 1st, 2003, my rate will be going to $35.00 per hour! I do hope that everyone is surviving the heat and the smoke without too much stress. It's sure been interesting around here, with the Robert Fire so close by. Thankfully it wasn't close enough to be a serious danger. Of course, fire season has just started, as we've seen by all the dry thunderstorms this week, so I do pray that we will all continue to be blessed. To get up-to-the-minute information on the fire news, I found the best bet was to use RealAudioPlayer to get KOFI radio. We don't get much in the way of tv or radio reception here in the canyon, so having it on the net was a great resource. I also checked out the Daily Interlake's online edition every morning for the latest detailed information, as well as some great photos. Here are some other sites that you might find useful if you want to keep tabs on the local fire situation: http://www.fs.fed.us/r1/fire/nrcc/ http://www.fs.fed.us/r1/flathead/fire/new/fire_index.htm http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/fire/ciimt5/ac/ http://www.nifc.gov/fireinfo/nfn.html http://www.visitmt.com/fire/conditions.htm One question I've been asked a lot frequently has been in regard to a program called Adobe Acrobat Reader.Acrobat is a program that allows you to view a document that has been created on another computer - regardless of what kind of computer that may have been. This allows the creator of the document to use whatever type of layout and design they so choose, without having to be limited by what the standard web page code allows them to do, and it also allows the creator to make their document available worldwide. So if you are using a PC, you can still open and read a document that was created on a Mac - if that document has been made into an Acrobat type file. Acrobat, or "pdf" files, are commonly used by the government (for tax forms), schools (for lesson plans), and manufacturers (for users manuals). The Acrobat Reader software is free to download and use by anyone, and is simple to install and use. And for those of you who shop at Radioactive in Kalispell - they are moving! They hope to be in their new location by the first of September, perhaps sooner. You can find out the details by visiting their website at Here's to a great August, may you stay cool and hopefully enjoy some rain!
