This and That

November 2003

We're back from a very successful hunting trip, and all the cutting and wrapping is done - now time to get back to work! Was a great vacation though.

Ever wonder what "ezine" means? The "e" comes from electronic, and the "zine" comes from magazine. Thus it's an electronic magazine. Just like your e-mail - electronic mail.

Christmas is fast approaching, and that's a time when many people think of buying a new computer. A lot of people have been asking for my opinion of various name-brand systems. If you must go with a name-brand system, then put the bucks out for a Dell. I've never had to work on one. Need I say more? I work on a LOT of Compaqs, HPs, Gateways, and various others. Better still, take the time to visit with me and compare the cost/value of a custom-built generic system. This is a great way to go if you already have all the "peripherals" - printer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. It's also great if it's your first system, as you have a lot more say in where your money is invested - maybe you don't need that fancy CD- Writer, 3-D video card and surround sound system, but really do want a large flat panel monitor. Going with a custom-built gives you total control.

If you are considering other tech toys this season, such as scanners, digital cameras, etc., be sure to check with me. I'll gladly do a quick check on the net and give you some pointers on brands and prices. Just drop me an email with details about what you want. Remember, email support is always free!

Lastly, please keep in mind that I am NOT available on Sundays, ever. That is a day of rest in our home, so you won't find me answering the phone or emails.
