Welcome to my home on the Internet. Things are a little dusty around here, I'm afraid I just haven't been keeping up with all the maintenance that a place like this requires. I do hope you will forgive me; please, come in and make yourself at home. What's that? What are Dogmarks, you ask? Oh boy, that's a long story. Let's see, it was well over a decade ago when I first got into playing around on the Internet, I wanted to learn web page design, and to really do that, I needed a domain of my very own. I had no idea what to call it though. At the time, I had a gorgeous mixed-breed dog that I called "The Grizz." Well, since I had no idea what to make the web site about either, I finally decided to just make a fun page all about him and his antics, and so I named the domain "the-grizz." Don't you know it, one thing led to another, and I began designing web pages for a living, and people started coming to my site for more professional reasons, so I felt the need to do something different, something with more of a reason. Thus I started my original collection of canine-related links. Unlike other search engines, or link sites, I wanted to keep my listing as unbiased and fair as possible. That is why I set mine up as an alphabetical listing. No partiality given for keywords or anything else, just a simple listing based on the title of the page, or if there was no title given, I would create one that fit the content of the site. Since these were sites that I myself culled from the 'net, no one could argue with how I decided to run my listing Time passed and my life changed. That wonderful dog passed on, and his story faded away. Eventually I married, had a child, changed careers, started my own business, divorced, etc. You know the story, we've all lived it, one way or another. At one point in time the listings became so much of a burden to me that I stopped updating the alphabetical listing completely, and instead, I set up a search engine for the site for visitors to use. This kept my work down to a minimum of just updating the database. Soon that became too much for me to keep up with, between managing a home and family and oh, yeah, did I mention health problems? Ah, probably not, I always forget things. Anyway, that's a whole other story for another day and another page. Eventually the site just kind of fell by the wayside. It never did make me any money, so it was hard for me to justify spending any time on it. So here we are, today. The year 2008 has nearly come to its end, my life is completely upside down, so what better time than now to give the old site an overhaul? Maybe folks will start coming back around. Maybe I can come up with something really useful for this wee bit of cyberspace that I can still call my very own. I'm sure up for any suggestions, just drop me a note, I love to get email, that's one thing that has yet to change. Oh yeah, about that name - Dogmarks - that's just a play on bookmarks.
